- [S155] Peter J. Gagné, King's Daughters and Founding Mothers, (Name: Quintin Publications; Location: PO Box 65546 Orange Park, FL 32065; Date: 2001 - 2008;), 1689 Kidnap of Pierre and Charlotte.
Charlotte and Pierre were captured by the Iroquois during an attack
on Lachine during the night of 04 August 1689 and René Cuillerier was
named guardian of their four minor children. Charlotte died in captivity
before 22 January 1698, when Pierre returned to Lachine after almost eight
and a half years in captivity. On 08 September 1703, bedridden with fever,
Pierre had his will made out in the home of his son Joseph. Pierre Gauthier
dit Saguingoira died 05 December 1703 at Lachine, where he was buried the
next day in the church cemetery.
